Free PS Action

Well, afternoon everyone :)
I know I said I'd be on yesterday with a tutorial, but that didn't actually work out as planned. Something funky happened with my laptop and it wouldn't start up all the way & crashed. It took me all day to figure out the problem and late last night I fixed it, yay!
Aaannnnnd, I know I told ya I'd give ya a tutorial, but how bout an action instead? Yes? Ok, good! This is one I made for an effect I use myself a lot! I love it really. What it does is it turns your image black & white and gives you two layers of softness, "Soft" & "Extra Soft", just by turning their visability on & off. This action uses gaussian blur filters, where they are set for high resolution images, but there are directions within the action that tells you what to do for a low res picture as well. I hope you enjoy playing with this one like I do! Oh, and also, I made this action in PS7 so I'm not sure which PS programs it will all work in. Please lemme know in the comments below if it does/doesn't work for you. Thanks!
Click the image to download this PS .atn file!

P.S. I used some pictures of my lil sister as my example above. Isn't she gorgeous?

Template Pack Freebie!

So as I'm preparing for the birth of my son next Monday the 13th, I'm working on a birth announcement where all I have to do is plop in a picture and his stats. Normally when I scrap something that I'm really into, I'll make a layout as I go and save it for further use. So I did that with a couple different layouts for you. These can be used for announcements or invitations, whatever you want. They're set to print at a 5x7, they're 300 dpi and they're PSD template files. Each layer is named accordingly so you'll know what to paste and where. In this ZIP file is also instructions for those that are newbies to templates! After you paste, all you have to do is add your text and any embellishments and you're done! I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed making them. (Please keep in mind, all names, and stats on the following LO's are fake. The images are of my daughter.) You may click on all of the templates/LO's below to see the bigger version. Comments are ALWAYS appreciated. Thanks and happy scrapping!

P.S. I just wanted to throw out there, that in the 3rd template with the "torn paper" look, you do NOT have to leave that white (like I did from the template to the LO sample). The layer in that template has a layer grouped with it so you can paste what you want (like a digi-scrap paper, or a solid color) on it, and the blending mode is set to "Multiply", so everything will automatically flush nicely with the white paper. If you have any questions or problems on this, feel free to lemme know!

Here is my layout I did as a sample (below), with some pictures from last years Easter. Remember, that this template doesn't include any embellishments. Once you insert the papers and pictures of your choosing, then you can creatively decide which embellishments you want to use, or any journaling and also where you want 'em! I hope you guys enjoy this one, and please don't forget - I'm still new so ANY comments would be appreciated. And I'd love to see any work that you do with my stuff, so don't forget to link it in your comments! (Oh and fyi: you can click the sample below for a larger version)

So go ahead and download these embellishments.. you know you want to. I can't wait to use them on some of my scrap pages when my lil' man gets here! Comments are greatly appreciated. Remember, I'm new at all this stuff so any comments, good or bad, would be amazing :) And if you use them on something, please post a link - I'd love to see what you've done! OH and if this is your first time here, hello! I hope you start following me so you can see all my new stuff to come!

A New CoffeeShop Freebie!

If you don't already know, I'm in love with Rita and all of her Photoshop greatness over at her CoffeeShop Blog. I've downloaded and use most of her actions and freebies that she creates on a ton of my photos. She just updated today with yet another PS Action and I've already tried it out and wanted to share it with you!

Behold the "Bright Eyes Action". Here's some before and afters with a picture of my daughter Chloe. Remember, this is an action for the eyes, so pay attention to those. The difference is just wonderful!

Here's a close up on one of the eyes, so you can really see the difference.

I love how this really, well like it's title, brightens the eyes. It makes them pop! If you're interested in this action, head on over to Rita's blog. You can click here and it'll take you straight to that action. Once you download and install the action into PS, she explains what do with the layers and the layer masks on that page as well. While you're there, check out some of her other freebies! You won't be dissapointed!
